Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on October 28th, 2025

The End of Life Doula Collaborative is committed to ensuring digital and in-person accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to guarantee our services are available to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

We believe in the principles of universal design and are dedicated to providing an inclusive and accessible environment for all our clients, their families, and our website visitors. This commitment is grounded in our ethical principles and our understanding of relevant legislation, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Online Accessibility

Online or digital accessibility refers to the inclusive practice of ensuring there are no barriers that prevent interaction with, or access to, websites on the World Wide Web by people with physical disabilities, situational disabilities, and socio-economic restrictions on bandwidth and speed.

Our goal is for our website to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, a set of recommendations for making web content more accessible. We have taken the following measures to ensure accessibility on our WIX-hosted website:

  • Navigability: The website is designed to be navigable via keyboard, in addition to a mouse.

  • Text Alternatives: We provide alternative text ("alt text") for all meaningful images and non-text content.

  • Readability: We strive to use clear language, logical headings, and legible fonts with high-contrast color schemes to make content understandable and easy to read.

  • Content Structure: Our content is structured logically to be compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

  • Third-Party Integrations: While we cannot control the accessibility of third-party platforms or embedded content, we choose reputable partners and advocate for accessible solutions.

This represents our good faith effort to achieve substantial conformance with established accessibility standards.

In-Person Accessibility

In-person accessibility refers to the measures taken to ensure that our doula services, consultations, and events are accessible in the physical world. This aligns with the principles of public accommodation as outlined in Title III of the ADA.

We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to ensure effective communication and full participation in our services. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Meeting Locations: When meeting in person, we will arrange for physically accessible locations that can accommodate mobility devices. We are also flexible and can meet clients in their homes, care facilities, or virtually.

  • Communication: We can provide materials in alternative formats, such as large print, upon request. Our doulas are trained to communicate clearly and adapt their communication style to meet the needs of clients with hearing, vision, or cognitive impairments.

  • Service Modification: We will work collaboratively with clients and their families to modify our service delivery to overcome any barriers to access.
